About Wild and Kind Kids
Wild and Kind is a family-friendly podcast about animals, nature, and kindness, where wild adventures meet big heart-to-heart moments. Each episode takes a deep dive into one new creature: from lightning-fast cheetahs to tiny bats that fit on your fingertip. Through a blend of animal facts, science, storytelling, and imagination, kids discover just how incredible the natural world really is.
Each episode includes:
• A playful movement warm-up
• Fascinating animal facts delivered by kids
• An original story grounded in real animal science
• A simple action to help animals, care for the planet, or show kindness (aka, your “Wild and Kind Mission”)
Perfect for car rides, classroom mini-lessons, bedtime, or creative play, every episode is designed to make learning fun, memorable, and meaningful. Our hope is simple: kids finish each episode a little more curious about the natural world and a little more kind to the people and creatures around them.

Why We Made Wild and Kind
OUR STORY
Wild and Kind began on family hikes and long car rides, where animal facts, silly questions, and imaginative stories became a spark for connection, creativity, and the values we hope our kids carry with them.

But its roots go back even further.

Carie (the host) grew up helping at her mom’s zoo, where she designed and ran a Junior Zookeeper program, created school field trip experiences, and led family events. Her favorite part was turning real science into stories that made kids light up and ask curious questions. Her zoo claim to fame? Turning a generation of kids into tarantula stans. Often while dressed as a cockroach.

That same joy, curiosity, and creativity lives in every Wild and Kind episode.

By blending real animal science, imaginative storytelling, and meaningful conversations, the podcast helps kids explore courage, kindness, and their place in the natural world.
Our Wild and Kind Crew
Carie (aka Mom)
Host & CHIEF STORYTELLER
Favorite animal: Sea Otter
Carie is a lifelong storyteller whose journey has taken her from Appalachia to graduate studies in Northern Ireland to a career in journalism and education.
For over 20 years, she has built learning experiences for educators and leaders rooted in research and driven by conviction that all kids can learn. Her belief is simple: stories can connect, teach, and inspire and help kids fall in love with learning.
And yes. She really did grow up on a zoo.
Lincoln & Eliza
Co-Hosts
Favorite animals: Raccoon and Cheetah
Lincoln and Eliza bring humor, curiosity, and big imagination to every episode (along with occasional wiggles and mic bumps).
When he’s not delivering Hollywood-ready voices, Lincoln is slaying first grade, mastering the mountain bike, and preparing for his future as a veterinarian.
Eliza runs her own Kindergarten Girl Scout Troop where she is practicing the leadership skills she’ll need to achieve her goal of “world star, pop stardom.”
Jon (aka Dad)
PRODUCER
Favorite animal: Bear
Jon is Lincoln and Eliza’s dad. He’s also an Asheville-based journalist and photographer with more than two decades of experience telling stories through writing, photography, video, and audio.
When he’s not reminding Lincoln and Eliza to speak closer to the mic, he’s the host and producer of his own podcast, On the Blue Ridge, which features conversations with people shaping the Blue Ridge Mountains.
